We wanted to celebrate the amazing results from the participants in our 15th Data-Driven Fasting Challenge (11 June to 10 July 2022).
As you will see, Data-Driven Fasting continues to deliver results as people train their hunger using their blood glucose to guide WHEN and WHAT they eat.

It’s super cool to see so many people getting great results as they follow the guidance of the Data-Driven Fasting app on WHAT and WHEN to eat.
Blood Glucose
The ‘secret’ to DDF is simply using your blood glucose as a fuel gauge to guide when and what to eat.
In the first three days, the DDF App guides you through establishing your personalised premeal blood glucose trigger. From there, it’s simply a matter of waiting until your blood sugar drops below your normal to confirm that it’s time to refuel.
As shown in the chart below, if you are consistently able to reach your trigger, the trigger drops a little to make the process just a bit more challenging to keep you gently moving forward.
In a world awash with diabetes, we’re thrilled to see so many people seeing massive drops in their blood sugars. The table below shows the start and finish blood glucose levels (in mg/dL) from the challenge.
name | start | finish | % change |
Brandy | 200 | 70 | 65% |
Bridget | 139 | 74 | 47% |
Jen | 142 | 82 | 42% |
Leslie | 104 | 62 | 40% |
David | 147 | 95 | 35% |
Barbara | 198 | 128 | 35% |
Kimberly | 254 | 166 | 35% |
Jo | 88 | 58 | 35% |
Wanjeri | 157 | 103 | 34% |
Debra | 134 | 89 | 34% |
Gretchen | 145 | 96 | 34% |
Jenny | 155 | 104 | 33% |
Kate | 116 | 79 | 32% |
Alison | 209 | 143 | 32% |
Rachel | 128 | 88 | 31% |
Sarah | 112 | 77 | 31% |
William | 165 | 115 | 30% |
Laura | 90 | 63 | 30% |
Pam | 167 | 118 | 29% |
Jovan | 218 | 156 | 28% |
Ana | 88 | 63 | 28% |
But it’s even more exciting to see, after two years of DDF, that so many people can sustain and maintain their progress once they reacquaint themselves with their true hunger signals.
Try the DDF app
If you’re interested in identifying your trigger and using your blood glucose to guide your eating, we’d love you to try out the DDF app here.
We’ve just opened it up so people can try it out for two weeks for free without being part of our DDF Challenge.
As a bonus, you’ll also get access to the self-guided DDF Program inside our Optimising Nutrition Community.
Words of Wisdom from DDF Veterans
Finally, we asked people who had completed a challenge what advice they would give themselves before they started the process. These sage words were too good not to share.
